The Turkish Ministry of Trade and the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation (FTS RF) have agreed on extending electronic data exchange protocols for freight shipments crossing the Black Sea basin. This modernization directly benefits regular Ro-Ro ferry lines connecting the ports of Samsun, Istanbul, and Novorossiysk.
Key Advantages for International Carriers:
- Dramatic Clearance Time Reduction: Submitting advance electronic transit declarations (Elektronka) slashes truck standstill times at destination ports from 24 hours down to just 2–3 hours.
- Direct Digital Surety Integration: Financial guarantees and customs surety bonds are registered in the unified database before the vessel sails, preventing bottlenecks at destination terminals.
- End-to-End Shipment Tracking: Each consignment is assigned an international unique consignment reference (UCR) number, enabling customs authorities in both countries to monitor freight movement in real time.
As an accredited direct customs surety representative in Turkey, Eresan is fully integrated into the new digital framework, generating and validating official surety certificates simultaneously with the ship's cargo manifest.
